Equipment Selection - Partition Diameter

Problem

Determine the effect of partition diameter on the process air flow rate if U/Ut in the spout and U/Umf at the top of the annulus must be maintained at 1.07 and 0.81, respectively as the initial processing condition.

Solution

Using PCTSWurster, duplicate U/Ut in the spout and U/Umf in the annulus for 9" and 10" partition diameter. 

Results
The process air flow rate must be increased by 16% (from 1980 to 2300 SCFM) to maintain the same U/Ut in the spout and U/Umf in the annulus for the 10" partition diameter.
